Has ferret math hit you? Do you feel ferret growing pains? As cute as a new kit is, consider checking into the vast range of personalities waiting for adoption in shelters across this country. You might be surprised at some of the fellows that get turned in. Not all shelter ferrets are turned in under negative circumstances. Quite often they come from loving homes that felt inadequate to safely pick a future family for their beloved fuzzy in times of emergency. And even if a ferret has had a hard life, it wasn't his fault, maybe you can give him the break he needs. No pet store can offer you the range of ages, colors and personalities as these mini ferret communities. And no store can offer you the genuine support, concern and knowledge of shelter volunteers.

Almost all shelters are run in the operator/foster parents homes. Unless otherwise posted, hours are by appointment only. Please call or email before coming to set up an appointment instead of just dropping in at their house unannounced. And although they will gladly answer your emergency phone calls during the night to help save your ferret in an immediate life or death situation, please make all non-emergency phone calls during the day and early evening hours.
