"A breeder who has no interest in rescue of what he has produced is of no value to anyone, and of even less value to his breed."

Rescue Donations
The needs of each shelter may vary but the basics are the same. In addition to food, supplies, and medical items, ALL rescues need not only your monetary support, but also your time.

Ways To Support Your Local Shelter:

  • Volunteer to help socialize and walk dogs
  • Offer to assist in bathing and training
  • Support their community fund raising events
  • When grocery shopping, pick up an extra bag of food or litter for the shelter of your choice. Pick up a treat for the shelter workers.
  • Include your shelter in your will.
  • License your pets. These fees often are used to help support the shelter.
  • Offer your business skills. Shelters can often use carpenters, handymen, plumbers, painters, and other skilled workers to help with repairs that the budget just doesn't cover. Can you work on their website? Help do newsletters? The yard needs mowing and poop needs picked up at shelters too.
  • Get involved. Fresh faces and support help to ward off burn out from the core workers. They need workers for special events, fund-raisers, adoption days, and foster homes.

Visit Deb's K-9 for what not to say to a rescue/shelter worker.

The White Card Dog
